Glenn Lucas is a well-established production turner specializing in utility ware. He started turning in 1990 at the age of sixteen. He has produced thousands of bowls and platters each year supplying shops in Europe and the USA. Many of Glenn’s pieces are in collections around the world. He has participated in events such as Sofa Chicago, Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show and in 2014 the Design Crafts Council of Ireland touring exhibition ‘Weathering’ which was seen at London Design Festival, Maison et Object Paris and Beijing’s Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art. He has become a popular demonstrator and teacher in Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the USA and now spends over 3 months of each year travelling and teaching. He balances his production of classic bowls turned from native Irish wood (set up in 1995), with an extensive teaching program run from his ‘Woodturning Study Centre’.
